Ddclient not updating ip
TL; DR Is there anything I can do to change iptables from ddclient (with user ddclient)?
The story behind I have a computer that uses dyndns to be addressable from outside.
5) Maybe you just left it off, but I dont see an update interval: /etc/ddclient/ddclient.conf: daemon=300 #update every 5 minutes Hope that helps.
PS: It is a really, really nice utility when you (eventually) get it to run, but the current documentation is horrible.
This linux server is fairly new, I use it only as a lan server.
I think I have an issue with my network, I am able to resolve internet addresses but u/a to ping them. Thx again, Josh Yes, it sounds like the short term problem is a networking problem.
******* thanks ill give this a shot*********** 5) Maybe you just left it off, but I dont see an update interval: /etc/ddclient/ddclient.conf: daemon=300 #update every 5 minutes *******I didnt leave it out, thats my complete config file, I thought the default was set to update every 5 minutes, and if i wanted to modify it to another value, i would make that change****** Hope that helps.
The computer has some iptables rules based on its public IP which of course will only work while the IP is correct.
Up to now I had an hourly cron job that would work like this to hold iptables up to date: Now hourly updates meant, that there could be an hour delay where iptables is configured with the wrong address.
I could have made the job more frequent (up to a minute), but I thought, that doing this kind of thing via polling is a waste, especially, when ddclient offers the possibility to execute a script after the ip has been changed.
